Off The Charts Penticton Ready To Rock

PENTICTON, BC. Off The Charts Penticton Music Competition is ready to rock the Barking Parrot. The competition kicks off next Thursday (February 19th) with five weeks of awesome music from bands from the all over the Okanagan Valley. The inaugural music competition is being presented by Spotted in Penticton and Sirf Marketing. The event starts at 7:30 pm and is slated to end around 10:30 pm. There is a $2.00 cover for the preliminary rounds. There will be pints of Molson Canadian, all night long, for only $4.75.

The competition has 12 bands vying to win thousands of dollars worth of prizes, including: a new guitar (and all the fixings) from Leggots Classic Guitars, a full marketing package from Sirf Marketing, recording time with BiG Audio Productions, an amp and toys from Keslla Music, a photo shoot with Emily Christine Photography, gift certificates from The Grooveyard and Wentworth Music Penticton. Additionally, 11 community/university radio stations across Canada have guaranteed play of the winning band’s track and/or to deliver it to relevant DJ’s, to play the track at their discretion. This includes local community radio station Peach City Radio, who wants all entries to submit digital tracks to add to their music library.

The bands herald from all over Southern BC, representing Kelowna, Keremeos, Salmo, Kamloops, and (of course) Penticton. Organizers are happy with the diverse genres that bands represent. From Classic Rock and Alternative to Metal and Space Rock. OTCP is confident that they have a great cross-section of talent from the Valley.

Penticton has three entries in the competition. Silent Alarm, Cosmic Brew and TR2 are out to prove that local music is alive and kicking in Penticton. Event organizer, David MacCoubrey says, “I am very happy with the quality of talent in the contest. I was hoping for more local bands to come out, but the bands that have entered from Penticton know how to rock. I am hoping to see a Penticton band in the finals. It will be up to the panel of judges.”

The judge’s panel will be made up of 5 local judges: David MacCoubrey (from Spotted In Penticton), Randy Farmer (from 97.1 Sun FM), Jasmine Lamont (from The Grooveyard), Evan Robillard (from Leggott’s Classic Guitars), Dave Del Rizzo (Peach City Radio) Preliminary Rounds Only, Bob Gabelhouse (Big Audio Productions) finals only, with Jake Evans (JEDI Urban Dance Studio) filling in to help out with some schedule conflicts. The last judge will be the fans themselves. Fans will have a chance to vote for their favorite artist. It will cost $2.00 per vote. The band with the most votes will get all of the cash paid out each round. The People’s Choice will factor into the judge’s decision.

Attendees can also win prizes just for coming to watch the event. OTCP sponsors have generously donated an awesome amount of exciting prizes. Whether you love tattoos, burgers, beer, Marilyn Manson, or just music in general…there is a prize for you. The more events that you attend…the more chances that you have to win.

MacCoubrey explains, “[that] Penticton businesses have really come out to support this event. I am very pleased at the amount of prizes that were donated by the community. I am thankful that we have such generous businesses in Penticton. I also believe that it is a positive sign that the local community loves and supports music. I hope that the community, in general, will make it out to cheer on the bands.”

Here are some of the door prizes available. The Rock Out Package offers two Tickets to the ultimate, shock-rocker Marilyn Manson at the South Okanagan Events Centre on March 28th. Additionally, you get a room for the night at the Penticton Lakeside Resort…maybe after a few drinks and appies at the host venue…the Barking Parrot Bar.

Their second prize package is the Get Inked Package. Tattoos and music go together like Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx, so Penticton’s premiere Tattoo shop Kettle Valley Tattoo Co. is offering a gift certificate towards a tattoo in their parlour. Maybe it is time to get some ink done!!! There are other nightly door prizes to be awarded from: Burger 55, Molson Coors Canada, Incentive Music, and Smartshopper.

The event will be photographed by local photographer Emil Christine. Dave Mai from DM Productions will also be filming the final round. Off the Charts Penticton is grateful to have the event documented by talented, local professionals.

The event will go on for 5 out of 6 weeks. The dates for the competition are: February 19th, February 26th, March 11th, March 19th, with the finals on March 26th, 2015. Off The Charts Penticton Finale

The Final Round and After-Party of Off The Charts Penticton Music Competition presented by Spotted In Penticton are on March 26th. There will be a wild amount of prizes that night.
