The South Okanagan’s Very Own Social Site

Sirf Marketing owner, David MacCoubrey is proud to announce the official launch of the local social site; Spotted in Penticton (SIP). Spotted in Penticton is the place to connect with people solely from the Penticton & South Okanagan Region. The site strives to celebrate everything positive about Penticton, from its cool people, awesome businesses and exciting events.

“I wanted to create something that linked the people of Penticton and the South Okanagan in a positive manner.” says site designer David MacCoubrey. “From Peachland to Penticton to Osoyoos, the whole region is interlinked somehow through family, friends, events and business. There are large global social sites that the people from the South Okanagan region can use to connect, but I wanted to create a site that was more focused on local.”

At first glance the site is very unassuming, but if you dig deeper, you will find that there are a myriad of features that make it very unique to the region. The social component, called GetSocial, allows users to create personal profiles with a photo, where they can then share status updates, photos, and videos. It is very quick and easy to sign-up. The fun part is users can network with their friends, with the ability to private message them, send instant messages, make comments, or tag friends in a status update. Users can also create or participate in groups, events and forums.

Another fun activity that users will enjoy is the Pic of the Day section. The section calls on budding local photographers to submit their amazing pictures from around the region to be displayed in the SIP online gallery. Spotted in Penticton also has a news section where people can submit positive stories from around the region. For others to read.

“The site is very people oriented and there is so much to do. It allows users on the site to enjoy things that they would enjoy in their everyday life; friends, local events and business”, says MacCoubrey.

The site does have sections dedicated to business and community. The GoLocal section features stories and news from local breweries, wineries, markets and more. Businesses and local organizations can utilize the Events section to get their events out to the region. Other pages of interest are the local Specials and Contests sections where users can find local deals, or contests to enter.

There is a business directory, where businesses can create engaging profiles with: their logo, contact information, text, videos, images, HTML links, social profiles, and Google Map integration. The directory is a Freemium service on the SIP site, as there are free and paid options. There are also various other advertising opportunities on the site. If local business owners enter their name in the directory by November 30th, 2014, they are automatically entered to win $200.00 worth of free advertising for December.

MacCoubrey was proud that the site was involved in the Penticton Election by promoting the Get Out and Vote Initiative. He goes on to explain that there are other SIP events and activities already in the works, including music events, and a men’s business networking group. He wants Spotted In Penticton to be a hub of activity in the community.

The site is mobile friendly and socially integrated, as well, with profiles on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Google +. Become a fan today to join the Spotted In Penticton network. There is a mobile app in the works to make the experience even more enjoyable. If you are interested in finding out more about the site or advertising, email David at info@spottedinpenticton.com.

MacCoubrey states that, “There is a little bit of everything for users to do on the site. All we need to do now is get them on there. Browse the site at http://spottedinpenticton.com and discover everything that is awesome about Penticton and the surrounding region.”
